Amazing pictures of the Galaxy
Galaxy - a large, gravitationally bound system of stars , dust and interstellar gas and invisible dark matter. A typical galaxy contains from 10 7 to 10 12 stars orbiting around their common center of mass.
In addition to individual stars, galaxies contain a large number of star systems, and various nebulae. Most galaxies have sizes from a few thousand to hundreds of thousands of light years. The distances between galaxies date back millions of light years. It is estimated that in the visible universe there are 350 billion galaxies and the large 3.5 trillion dwarf galaxies . All of these galaxies formed 25 billion groups of galaxies contained in 10 million superclusters of galaxies.
The galaxy, which is located inside the solar system, the Milky Way. The farthest known galaxy is now z8 GND 5296. The largest known galaxy is IC 1101.
To explain the observed effects (eg. Gravitational consistency vast galaxies with low apparent mass), it is anticipated that a substantial portion of the mass of galaxies is a hypothetical dark matter, or particles or objects that emit too little radiation to be detected. According to this model, the calculations show that dark matter makes up more than 90% of the mass of galaxies. Despite this, its nature is not known. There is evidence that at the center of many or all of the galaxies may be supermassive black holes.
